Troubled trainer to keep operating

- SHANE FOWLES

A GEELONG training provider says its slide into voluntary administration will not affect its business.

AGB Training, which has sites in South Geelong, Belmont and Melbourne, says all classes will continue as scheduled.

The company announced on Wednesday that Worrells Solvency and Forensic Accountants had been appointed voluntary administrators.

“Business will continue as normal. All classes will remain as per the current timetable (unless you are otherwise notified),” the company said.

The move comes only three months after another local registered training organisation, Journey Management, closed.

AGB Training announced in June that it would be closing its Transport and Logistics Licensing Centre in Belmont at the end of August.

However, the demise of Journey Management led the company to reverse its decision and maintain its Belmont complex.

Student Melissa Hubbard has called on AGB to be upfront about its longer-term future.

“If you have plans of not pursuing current classes I advise you let those classes know at the start of next week,” she said.

“I do not want to waste my precious time, as I’m sure others feel the same way, on putting hours into doing our assessments if our classes are not going to be feasible to continue.”

AGB Training, which began in 2006, says that it has more than 2000 local students, and a further 80 international students.

It offers a range of courses, including business management, community services and civil construction design.
