Libba set to re-sign as plenty shown the door
TOM Liberatore has finally put pen to paper on a one-year contract at the Western Bulldogs.
The 26-year-old, who missed almost all of the 2018 season after rupturing his ACL in the opening minutes of Round 1, was allowed to assess his free agency options, but says he is now excited.
“I’m very determined, very optimistic,” he said. “I feel like I’m playing juniors again. I’ve got that sort of itch I had when I was 16, 17. After having another year out on the sidelines, I feel very determined, and excited to have fun again playing footy.”
MICHAEL Walters has signed a contract extension at Fremantle, believing the Dockers’ trade period success will “change the club”. Walters was contracted until the end of 2020 but signed on for a further two years.
The livewire forward is relishing the prospect of lining up inside 50m alongside newly acquired goalkickers Jesse Hogan and Rory Lobb.
PREMIERSHIP forward Jarryd Blair and teammate Adam Oxley have been told by Collingwood they won’t be offered new contracts.
Oxley was cut and redraft- eded as a rookie 12 months ago, but won’t be offered another lifeline after managing only three senior games in the Pies’ 2018 charge to the Grand Final.
The defender, 25, was given the news on Monday as Collingwood moves closer to finalising its 2019 list.
Josh Smith will follow Blair and Oxley out the door, with the Grand Final Pies suddenly bursting with depth.
HAWTHORN has dumped 2014 premiership hero Will Langford, despite him having a year to go on his contract.
Langford, the son of Hawks great and former AFL commissioner Chris Langford, played 72 games for the club.
After making his debut in 2013, Langford was a member of their 2014 premiership side.
The Hawks said in a state- ment that rather than try to extend his AFL career elsewhere, Langford had decided to call it quits once he spoke with the club at the end of the season.
The Hawks yesterday finalised their list by re-signing Daniel Howe to a two-year contract.
Ryan Schoenmakers, Teia Miles, Ricky Henderson and Marc Pittonet all agreed to new one-year deals.
