Client Liasion says no to Eurovision

- CAMERON ADAMS

MELBOURNE band Client Liaison has ruled themselves out of next year’s public voted Eurovision.

The colourful, retroinspired act continue to be mentioned as a credible option to represent Australia – especially wearing their Ken Done/Alan Bond influenced Oz 80s fashion.

“I can see why people would think we’d be a good fit, but I’m not sure we belong there,” Client Liaison’s Monte Morgan said.

“I don’t really like the words ‘music’ and ‘competition’ in the same sentence. We actually were considering trying to do Eurovision last year, we were almost tailoring songs towards it. But now we’re so focused on our new album it’s just a blip in the conversations around the management table.”

Morgan admits Client Liaison’s second album, due next year, will be their poppiest yet.

“We’ve been studying pop songwriting,” Morgan said.

A new single, The Beat Supreme, is scheduled to be released this month.

“It’s quite brooding and funky, a bit of an INXS vibe, it’s an ode to our past Australian musical heroes like Michael Hutchence, John Farnham, Icehouse and Savage Garden.”

Client Liaison will kick off next year’s Zoo Twilights concert series at Melbourne Zoo on January 25. Tickets on sale now from zootwilights.org.au
