Your last chance to nominate

-

ATTENTION, junior sports stars — this is your final week to nominate for the Geelong Advertiser Junior Sports Star of the Year Award.

The Geelong Advertiser and Barwon Sports Academy are recognising the talented, committed, courageous young athletes who have shown great sportsmanship both on and off the field.

That could include junior athletes who have achieved national success; footballers or cricketers who may have overcome injury or other hurdles to reach the top of their agegroup; and everything in between.

The judging period is from November 1, 2017, to November 1, 2018. Entrants must be aged 16 or under as of November 1.

The junior athlete judged the sports star of the year will also receive $300 from the Geelong Advertiser. Entries close this Friday. The Geelong Advertiser will profile all finalists in the lead-up, and the overall winner will be announced at the Barwon Sports Academy Awards Night on Monday, December 3, at GMHBA Stadium.

Past winners include Jake Bensted (2010), who competed in the Rio Olympics in judo; 2018 Winter Olympic mogul skier Jakara Anthony (2012); and Youth Commonwealth Games track star Mia Gross (2016).
