RED HOT EXCLUSIVE

US ROCK GIANTS HEADED OUR WAY

- OLIVIA REED

THE Red Hot Chili Peppers will bring the heat to Mt Duneed Estate’s A Day on the Green in March.

Playing their first Australian headline tour in 12 years, the music giants (right) will grace the stage on March 2 with their unique funk-rock sound and highenergy.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ set is expected to include Dark Necessities from their current studio album, The Getaway, which spent two weeks at No. 1 on the ARIA charts, plus classic album tracks such as By the Way, Can’t Stop, Snow (Hey Oh), Otherside, Californication, Under The Bridge and Give It Away.

A Day on the Green promoter Michael Newton said he was thrilled that an international act as acclaimed as the Red Hot Chili Peppers would perform at Mt Duneed.

“They’re a great live band, they’re the sort of band that hit you right in the face,” he said. “They’re intense and really good.”

He said the Peppers weren’t “your typical A Day on the Green artist”, but it was “fantastic” that the band had shown faith in the event.

He said A Day on the Green had attracted 150,000 people over the past four years and he hoped the tally would reach 170,000 this year.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers consists of singer Anthony Kiedis, Melbourne-born bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.

The band has sold more than 60 million albums, including five multi-platinum LPs, and won six Grammy Awards. It last returned to Australia in 2013 to headline at Big Day Out.

Tickets for the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ concert at Mt Duneed go on sale to the public on November 26, at noon after a pre-sale for A Day on the Green members on November 21.
