GUN MYSTERY
Shot mum’s partner arrested at scene Police search for weapon as loved ones mourn
A MAN suspected of shooting dead his girlfriend in her Geelong home posted a picture of himself holding a gun with the caption “time for this b---- to get cut off” hours before her death.
Mother of four Emily Miller, 31, was fatally shot in the stomach inside her Conrad Court, Whittington home about 9.20pm on Wednesday.
Her children were nearby at the time.
Ms Miller’s partner, Harry Watson, was located at the home and taken into police custody. No charges have been laid. Hours before her death, he posted a disturbing image of himself on social media holding a gun signalling intentions to hurt a woman.
“You know what time it is? Time for this b---- to get cut off,” it read.
The graphic image was posted via the mum’s Snapchat account, indicating Mr Watson had taken her phone from her in the hours before her death.
Close friend Simone Trench said Ms Miller began a relation- ship with him about three months before her death. The man, aged in his 20s, lived with her and her children at the public housing home, she said. Ms Miller referred to herself online as a “proud mummy” and posted pictures of her kids on a family outing on Sunday. Mr Watson can be seen holding her youngest daughter on his lap in one of the images. “She was loved by everyone. I don’t get it,” Ms Trench told News Corp. “All of her friends are devastated. I am lost.” Ms Miller was rushed to hospital where she died of her injuries. Homicide Squad detectives spent yesterday at the home, as forensic police searched for the gun used to kill Ms Miller.
Police scoured the roof, bins and surrounding parkland as uniformed and plain clothes officers doorknocked homes.
Her brutal death sent shockwaves through the Geelong community.
The grandmother of Ms Miller’s four children, Doreen Forehan, told media four young lives had been forever changed by the deadly act.
“There’s four little children that have lost their mum,” Ms Forehan said.
She said the bright young mum was so excited for the coming festive season.
“She was so excited about having her first Christmas in her first house with her kids. That’s not going to happen now,” Ms Forehan said.
It is understood Ms Miller’s two youngest children — both under the age of three — are being cared for by their father’s family.
