Sharp net session has Healy, Australians looking up

- ELIZA SEWELL ANTIGUA

OPENER Alyssa Healy appears a certain starter for today’s World T20 semi final as West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor expected a fired-up Australia out for revenge.

Healy looked in super touch at a net session at Coolidge Cricket Ground yesterday, smashing the white ball to the ropes on numerous occasions.

She must pass a concussion test this morning before being cleared to play, but all signs point to her taking to the field.

“From what I saw, she went really well,” Australian captain Meg Lanning said.

“She was batting alongside me in the nets, and it looked like she was enjoying herself and hitting the ball well.

“Now we’ve just got to wait until, I guess, the morning to see how she pulls out from that, but all signs are really good at the moment.

“She’s ticked every box that she’s needed to, but, yeah, we just need to see how she goes in the morning before we make the final call.

“It would be great for her to be out there. She’s been the form player of the tournament, made it look very easy at times.

“It would be a massive boost for us if she is to be available, and as I said, everything is going to plan at the moment.”

Australia was out-muscled in the 2016 World T20 decider by the West Indies and Taylor expected the Aussies to be determined to reverse the result today.

“You know, that’s the past, and tomorrow is definitely what comes (but) I have a feeling that the Aussies might look at it as a revenge,” she said.

“But for us, that’s the past, and tomorrow’s game is definitely what counts.

“We as players, we’ve been playing some really good cricket, especially our bowling.

“Confidence level of everyone is high, and I think that belief is just right there.

“You know, the girls have that belief that we could go out there and do it.”
