Wait’s almost over for VCE students

- TAMARA McDONALD

THOUSANDS of Geelong region students face an anxious wait for their VCE results, which will be revealed tomorrow.

In Greater Geelong, 3625 students sat at least one written VCE exam, VCAA says.

Scores will be available from 7am.

Students will be able to log in to access their results using their VCE student number and, for the first time, a secure password.

The password replaces the use of a PIN in previous years, and the Victorian Tertiary Admission Centres says its intro- duction security.

Students are being encouraged to register for the results service at resultsandatar.vic.edu.au and choose their secure password before tomorrow. The service is also available to Year 10 and 11 students who completed a Year 12 subject.

More than 30,000 students have already registered and created their password.

Final VCE exams wrapped up on November 21.

Ahmad Qadri enjoyed his Year 12 experience at North Geelong Secondary College.

“I found it quite enjoyable . . . at the same time it was a lot of work,” Mr Qadri said. will provide more

“The reason I found it enjoyable was I did subjects I like and am passionate about.”

The 17-year-old said he was feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement in the lead-up to finding out his ATAR.

He hopes to study a bachelor of arts majoring in international politics and Islamic studies at the University of Melbourne.

The ATAR is a percentile rank that shows a student’s relative performance compared to their year group — meaning if a student receives an ATAR of 80, they have performed better than 80 per cent of the Year 12 age group.

Education Minister James Merlino said he congratulated “every student who has successfully completed their VCE or VCAL this year”.

“You have all demonstrated dedication and commitment to your studies and should be extremely proud of your achievements,” Mr Merlino said.

“Your teachers, parents, carers and everyone who’s supported you should also be very proud.”

The minister reminded students that their scores did not define them. “Whatever path you take next, I wish you every success in the future,” he said.

A video on how to register on the results website is available on the VTAC Youtube Channel.

Other methods to receive the ATAR include mail and an app, with more information available on the VCAA website.
