Crackdown on results

Premiership points to be stripped

-

JUNIOR cricket sides will lose premiership points for tardy online administration as part of a Geelong Junior Cricket Association crackdown on match results.

Fed up with incomplete electronic scorecards on MyCricket, the GJCA will strip clubs of premiership points if they fail to enter the required data by a series of hard-andfast deadlines.

Clubs will be docked one premiership point each time they fail to make deadline on entering their teamlist, entering overall match details and supplying individual player scores.

The changes are effective immediately.

“Please understand the reasons why we require this data to be entered on time,” the league wrote to clubs.

“The Geelong Advertiser, and Bellarine, Armstrong Creek and Surf Coast Times, require the data to be forwarded ASAP for publication.

“Failure to enter the data reflects poorly, and disappoints the readers, who are invariably the players and their families.

“The data is sent to the paper’s copytakers for them to collate and publish by a Monday deadline.

“The players themselves like to see their names in the system when they perform well, and so they should.

“Entered data helps the community retrieve ready information.

“Players, coaches and the community like to evaluate player and team performance, and keep up to speed with the results from many age groups and divisions of GJCA.

“The GJCA age group co-ordinators need ready-access to match data, to search for results that may have anomalies (where teams may have exceeded batting or bowling restrictions, etc.); and furthermore, there may be match results that have been disputed, and consequently the match data needs to be analysed ASAP.”

In a memo to clubs outlining the new policy, the GJCA said: TEAM LISTS ALL Friday and Saturday competition teamlists must be entered in MyCricket by 8pm on the Sunday after the first day’s play;

ALL Geelong Girls’ League competition teamlists must be entered in MyCricket by midday on the Monday after a Sunday match, or by 8pm on the Sunday after a Wednesday match;

ANY team failing to have their team list on MyCricket by these times will receive a one-point penalty. MATCH SCORES ALL home teams in Friday and Saturday competitions are required to have match scores on MyCricket by 8pm on the Sunday after each day’s play;

THE final match results — including matches that are abandoned — are also required on MyCricket by 8pm on the Sunday after matches are complete;

ALL home teams in GGL competitions are required to have match scores on MyCricket by midday on the Monday after a Sunday match, or by 8pm on the Sunday after a Wednesday match;
