Former NBL player into Supercats’ front office
GEELONG Supercats have snared another key off-court recruit with former NBL player Greg Vanderjagt (pictured) joining as chief operating officer.
It’s the second key role the Supercats have filled in the off-season, with Mark Neeld appointed CEO in December.
Vanderjagt joins after spending three years as Townsville Basketball general manager.
“With the recruitment of Mark as our CEO, we felt that we could not pass up the opportunity to have someone of Greg’s basketball IQ and experience as part of our organisation”, Basketball Geelong chairman Sebastian Loader said. “With the departure of both Dean Anglin and operations manager Sarah Monck, there was a gap to be filled and Greg perfectly fits the skills and qualities we want for the new chief operating officer position.”
Under Vanderjagt’s leadership, Townsville Basketball saw continued and rapid growth in membership, sponsorship and overall operational profit.
“I am looking forward to joining the team at Basketball Geelong and contributing to the growth and development of the organisation in the coming years, and excited for the challenges and opportunities ahead,” Vanderjagt said.
“I have experienced firsthand the pride and passion of the Geelong basketball community in my battles with the Supercats in the SEABL over a number of years and I’m excited to join this culture of excellence and contribute positively to the Basketball Geelong environment.”
Vanderjagt will officially join the Geelong Supercats next month
