GARY Ablett Jr and wife Jordan have announced the birth of their first child, a baby boy that’s sure to have Cats fans thinking about a potential thirdgeneration father-son superstar.

GEELONG champion Gary Ablett and wife Jordan have welcomed their first child.

The new parents announced the arrival of their baby boy via Instagram last night.

The baby boy, who Jordan had affectionately referred to as ‘ Jnr Jnr’ during her pregnancy, arrived on Tuesday.

The pair shared a photo holding hands with the baby boy writing “Family — where life begins and love never ends … Our beautiful baby boy is finally here.”

The first-time parents received an outpouring of good wishes from family, friends, footballers and fans, including former Gold Coast teammates Harley Bennell, Tom Lynch and Brandon Matera.

The pair first announced they were expecting in July, sharing an adorable photo of ‘dad’ and ‘grandad’ Cats jumpers hanging in the Geelong locker rooms, alongside a baby jersey with a question mark on the back.

It was later revealed Jordan decided to keep the news to herself in the early days so she could surprise her footballer husband with the news on his 34th birthday in May.

“It was the day after a game and we were staying at Crown,” Ablett said. “She knows that the way to my heart is through NBA, so she gave me a box that said ‘Introducing the Greatest Recruit of All Time’.

“I had no idea what it was and when I opened it, inside was the tiniest Michael Jordan onesie, a little beanie and little runners. It took me a little moment to process what I was looking at but when it hit me, it hit me hard.

“I was an emotional wreck. The greatest gift of all time!”

At the time of the pregnancy announcement, former Cats president Frank Costa told the Geelong Advertiser he was “thrilled” for the couple and made no secret of his dream to see a third generation of Abletts running around in the blue and white hoops.
