Nomura stretches good form

-

THE crowds might have come for Ryo Ishikawa, but it was another Japanese golfer who did the damage on the scoreboard yesterday in the women’s side of the draw.

Haru Nomura, a former Australian Open champion, played a flawless round, finishing with a six-under 67 on the Creek course at Thirteenth Beach.

Nomura went bogeyfree and registered birdies on the second, fifth, seventh, eighth, 10th and 13th holes to back up her five-under 67 on the Beach course on Thursday.

The 26-year-old (pictured) has been plagued by back issues recently but told reporters losing weight and stretching on course had put her back in a positive space.

Solid putting has been a feature of Nomura’s game the past two days and that was on show again yesterday.

She will continue her stint Down Under next week when she heads to Adelaide for the women’s Australian Open.
