$15 million Ikon investment

-

THE home of AFLW in Victoria will get a $15 million funding boost from the Federal Government to help redevelop an iconic ground.

The money will be spent on developing Ikon Park as a high performance training facility for the AFLW and a women’s sports injury prevention and research centre, as well as upgrading match-day facilities.

Funds would also go towards delivering an allied health centre and women’s coaching education hub.

“It is so important for our elite female athletes to have access to purpose-built high performance facilities to develop their full potential as champion athletes,” said Treasurer Josh Frydenberg.

The treasurer said he was pleased the redevelopment would also provide training and education facilities for women to further their careers as officials.

The Federal Government funding is in addition to $20 million provided by the Victorian Labor Government.
