Protester’s hand blown off
A PROTESTER had his hand blown off by a stun grenade he picked up during a 13th consecutive weekend of anti-establishment protests in France.
The demonstrator was with a group protesting outside the National Assembly building in Paris when the accident occurred. The man had picked up the crowd-dispersal grenade to throw it back towards police but the device exploded while it was still in his hand, police said.
What began as anti-fuel tax protests in November, the yellow vests, who owe their sobriquet to the high-visibility jackets the protesters wear, have since morphed into catch-all demonstrations against the French Government and President Emmanuel Macron.
