It’s been a few months since we’ve had the pleasure of a new Michael Mosley doco on our screens, but he’s back with a real eye-opener in this rather cheeky (albeit wholly medical) exercise. In fact, this experiment is Britain’s largest-ever trial to test the placebo effect. Could pretend pills really prove to be the cure for many medical problems? With Mosley in charge, anything is possible. Tonight, the medical maven heads to Blackpool – apparently the British capital of chronic back pain – to invite 117 people into his scheme to see if pills filled with ground rice can offer some much-needed relief.
