- RUSTY WOODGER

ANDREW Katos has found a new job in politics after he was ousted from state parliament last year.

The former Liberal MP has landed a position in the office of newly elected Western Victoria MP Bev McArthur.

The 48-year-old is working as an electorate officer and media adviser to Ms McArthur from her office in Port Fairy.

It is understood he started in the role early last month.

Mr Katos served as South Barwon MP from 2010 until the November state election.

Sitting on a narrow lead going into the election, he lost his seat after a 7.5 per cent swing to Labor challenger Darren Cheeseman.

Mr Katos was contacted for comment yesterday, but did not respond before deadline.

During his tenure, he was Opposition Whip and had been lined up to become the first Minister for Geelong if the Coalition had won the state election.

Before entering politics, Mr Katos managed his family’s fish supplies business in Geelong.

He joined the Liberal Party’s Belmont branch in the mid-2000s.

Mr Katos is among a string of former politicians to find new careers in politics after being ousted election.

Former Liberal MP Joshua Morris has recently started working as a regional media adviser for new Opposition Leader Michael O’Brien.

The Ballarat-based MP represented the Western Victoria region between 2014 and 2018.

Luke O’Sullivan, meanwhile, has also landed a plum job after losing his position as a state Nationals MP.

The former Nationals state director has taken on a senior advisory role in Canberra with Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack. at the state
