North quickly turns to Suns

NPL2 — ROUND 6

- TAS MAVRIDIS NPL2

NORTH Geelong coach James Coutts says his side needs to quickly move on from its derby win when it travels to face the Goulburn Valley Suns.

Coutts said his players needed to focus their attention on their Shepparton opponent to ensure they continue their strong start to the season.

“There was a lot of output last week, both mentally and physically,” he said.

“It was a big occasion, and you could see how much it meant to them afterwards.

“At the end of the day it was just another game and another three points.

“Our recovery and reflec- tion was very important to get the players in the correct mindset again for the GVS game.

“It is a game which is going to be a huge challenge and one that we are looking forward to.”

Despite Goulburn sitting ninth in NPL2 East, Coutts expects a tough battle.

“They are a big side with plenty of experience in their team,” he said.

“They have a team of players who have played at a good level back in the UK as well as some dangerous up-andcoming players.

“They certainly like to get the ball forward to utilise their strengths. It is always a difficult game to go to Shepparton.

“The lads have prepared and done their homework we have watched as I’m sure Craig has with us, and we will go there and prepare and try and get a positive result.”

Coutts will potentially have a full squad to choose from with Nicholas Kozdra the only player with any injury concerns.

“At the moment he is 50/50 for the weekend, we will see how he goes in training and make a decision just before the game, everyone else is in training and has been training well,” he said.

“There is a lot of healthy competition at the moment, with lads who are very good players not making the squad.

“We just reiterate to the boys that every session and every game is a huge opportunity to learn and improve, and impress, and if they stagnate then there is certainly people waiting to get the shirt.

“We will go up to Shepparton with a strong squad and hopefully get a result.”
