Single platform unites functions

- DAVE CAIRNS

A FULLY integrated business management system which brings a raft of business software functions into a single platform has been developed by a locally owned company.

Targeting field services businesses, LogixOne streamlines processes by integrating software and communication tools into the one system.

Founder and managing director Peter La Fontaine, of Barwon Heads, said creating a single source of information produced multiple efficiencies including inventory management and less time and error entering data.

A feature is communicating all elements of a job with the field operator via an app.

“Our system does everything; booking, quoting, job allocation, job scheduling, job allocation to the field operator, mapping of the job, location of the operator, completion of the job, creating an invoice, sending to the finance system and reconciling with the bank,” Mr La Fontaine

“At the same time, you can make phone calls, send SMS, and do e-mail … you don’t log into Outlook and then into Office 365 for Excel, or then MYOB for your invoicing.”

Backed by a service centre in Indonesia, the product launched six months ago, with a Geelong security company and a Bellarine Peninsula skip bin business among the early adopters.

He said Tanemera Coffee Indonesia, which had 25 stores and growing, was its biggest client.

“The system is fully configurable,” he said. “We can make it work for a bin cleaning company, for a waste management company, we can make it work for a plumber, but we can also make it work for a coffee company.”

Mr La Fontaine said LogixOne grew out of his consultancy business, Iseka Services, which was involved in transforming field service businesses from being paper based to fully digital operations.

“They all have different business models, they all do things different, so what we were having to do was connect vendor platforms together to create the one system,” he said.

“The problem with that is it has additional licensing costs, and support costs and who supports what?”

He said LogixOne effectively gave clients an IT support service to address all the issues, including making modifications.

While businesses can simply subscribe to use the platform, Mr La Fontaine said clients have liked the idea of having a single source of IT support.

”We have a support centre, that answers phone calls, takes emails, we have a help desk, Mr La Fontaine said.

“As you build and bring on more customers, you have to build that, and we have a strategy behind that.”

LogixOne has been priced competitively for small business, at between $100 and $150 a month per user.

Mr La Fontaine said LogixOne typically cost a small company between $4000 and $5000 to set the system up.
