CHRISTIANITY UNDER THREAT IN FOLAU ROW

-

RE Ross Mueller’s “Choice is Free” ( GA, 27/6).

Many Christians have no problems with others disagreeing. Hypocritically, much of mainstream media, major companies’ fundraising sites do have a problem with Christians sharing their beliefs — they call it “hate speech”.

GoFundMe closed its fundraising page for Israel Folau in the name of fostering an environment of inclusivity and not tolerating “promotion of discrimination or exclusion”.

However, says CultureWatch commentator Bill Muehlenberg,

GoFundMe “have determined that they will not foster an environment of inclusivity to Israel Folau and they

will promote discrimination and exclusion of Bible-believing Christians”.

Sadly, such double standards are typical of most mainstream media.

Israel was paraphrasing from the

Bible: “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Don’t be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practise homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ by the Spirit of God’. 1 Corinthians 6: 9-20 Israel Folau was not saying, “Hey Thieves, You Adulterers, You Liars . . . out there . . . ” Israel was simply sharing God’s word of truth.

Bill Muehlenberg’s CultureWatch:

The main issue “is an ugly and sustained crackdown on Christianity . . .

To paraphrase German pastor Holocaust survivor Martin Niemoller:

In Australia they came first for Archbishop Julian Porteous, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a cleric. Then they came for Bernard Gaynor, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Catholic. Then they came for Margaret Court, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a tennis player. Then they came for Lyle Shelton, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a lobbyist. Then they came for Israel Folau, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a footballer. Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up.”

So many Australians now know what this is really all about: A fullfledged war on Christianity.

And that is why so many are speaking up — enough is enough!
