NEED FOR SPEED

HIGH ALERT: Cats go for pace, prepare to take on a Freo side under siege in WA

- with PERTH NOW

GEELONG has injected speed at both ends of the ground for tomorrow, when it takes on a Fremantle side that has copped a barrage of criticism this week.

Defender Zach Tuohy and forward Gary Rohan return for the Cats, replacing Harry Taylor (managed) and James Parsons (dropped).

The blowtorch has scorched the Dockers this week amid deepening pressure on coach Ross Lyon and his side, as an outof-sorts Fremantle slides out of finals contention.

Western Australia’s most high-profile player agent took an extraordinary swipe at Fremantle, declaring the club needed to make changes or it was “going nowhere”.

The Dockers have been under heavy fire as the losses mount, the injury list grows and rumours of off-field turmoil spread across the league.

The bizarre dismissal of former Geelong forward Shane Kersten this week is the latest in a long line of concerning situations to plague the club.

Now Kersten’s manager, Colin Young, has gone public with his concerns.

Young and his fellow Corporate Sports Australia manager Andrew McDougall handle a number of the Dockers’ list, including Michael Walters, Brad and Stephen Hill, Joel Hamling, Nathan Wilson, Reece Conca, Griffin Logue, Aaron Sandilands, Hayden Ballantyne and the departed Harley Bennell.

“Shane and the club will part ways at the end of the week amicably and Shane will do his rehab under a different set of eyes,” Young told The West Australian.

“I have serious concerns on how the club rehabilitates its players (and) it’s my opinion that this area of the club needs an immediate review.

“Immediate changes need to be made or the club is going nowhere.”

Fremantle has defended its injury management program and the level of care it provides after Young’s comments.

“While we respect the views of player managers like Colin and work with them each day, it is important to reinforce that everyone at the Fremantle Football Club is committed to looking after our players and their health and welfare on and off the field,” general manager of football Peter Bell said.

The Dockers have made five changes for tomorrow’s clash with Geelong, including naming debutant Jason Carter.

Bailey Banfield, Mitch Crowden, Ethan Hughes and Sam Switkowski are the Dockers’ four other inclusions.

Rory Lobb (shoulder), Luke Ryan (hamstring) and Nathan Wilson (toe) are out injured, while Ballantyne and Brett Bewley were dropped.
