GEELONG’S SPOTIFY FAVES
SPOTIFY has revealed Geelong’s favourite music, with a song to put babies to sleep among the most popular.
Post Malone and Swae Lee’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse song Sunflower has proved to be Geelong’s favourite track this year, bolstered by a heavy radio rotation.
Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy came in second, but the most surprising favourite track was White Noise For Baby Sleep at No. 3.
Highton mother of two Rachael Javni said she used white noise tracks to help her four-month-old baby Luella sleep.
Ms Javni said she placed an iPad playing the repetitive tracks under Luella’s bassinet.
“I find it settles her and it’s been the most effective,” she said. “I think the repetition of the noise soothes them.
“When they’re in the womb they would hear muffled noises so I think it gives them a calming feeling.”
Meanwhile, Eilish’s catchy pop tunes have made her Geelong’s top streamed artist, despite the American singer being just 17 years old.
Her songs Bury a friend and When the party’s over were also Geelong’s seventh and eighth favourite tracks this year.
Fellow Americans Khalid and Ariana Grande have captured the hearts of Geelong residents, while rapper Post Malone’s mellow tunes also proved popular. Popular British singer Ed Sheeran rounded out the top five.
The Surf Coast shared Geelong’s love of Post Malone and Swae Lee’s Sunflower, with Ariana Grande’s 7 rings the second most popular track on the coast.
Post Malone proved his popularity with his track Wow. coming in as the Surf Coast’s third favourite. The Surf Coast’s top streamed artists were Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande and Post Malone.
