Weary Warriors wary

A win over Victory will make it five in a row, but …

NORTH Geelong will look to keep its hot run of form going when it travels to Epping Stadium to face Melbourne Victory tomorrow.

The in-form Warriors have won their past four games, generating a wave of momentum into the final three rounds of the NPL2 season.

After three successive 1-0 wins, the Warriors’ confidence is growing and coach James Coutts insists that his side is ready to overturn the loss it had at the hands of the Victory at Elcho Park earlier in the season.

“The first matchup against them this season was our first loss for the season and one we should have never lost,” Coutts said.

“It will be a completely different game, there is a difference between playing at Elcho Park and Epping with it being a different style pitch with some different players.

“Tactically how you set up from Elcho Park to Epping is also different so there is not much from the first game we will take from, we will look to just execute certain things we have worked on this week and hopefully go there and get a good result.”

Coutts is wary that despite their youth, the Victory poses a different set of challenges to many of the other NPL sides.

“It is always different when you play Victory or City because they are a lot younger, but tactically and technically they are very organised and are very educated in what they do,” he said.

“They will play a certain style, we know how they will look to play and their style of play and it will be very effective for them but hopefully we can play our way and be organised defensively and impose our attacking game on them.”

With only a few games to go the Warriors, despite their fatigue, will look to keep their slim promotion hopes alive.

“The game being on a Sunday gives us an extra day of rest, which the boys need. We are coming to the end of a long season, the boys have been coming in three times a week since November,” Coutts said.

Meanwhile, Galaxy United will host Alamein at Stead Park tonight.

With two matches left in the NPLW season, Galaxy looks set to finish eighth. The club would need to win its final two matches of the season to be a chance to finish seventh.
