TRIO OF YOUTHS TO FACE 60 CHARGES

A TRIO of youths have been charged with more than 60 offences after allegedly committing a series of crimes across Geelong and Melbourne since May.

A 17-year-old stole three cars, including a Ford Ranger from an Armstrong Creek property on September 2 and a Mercedes Benz from a Lara property on September 5.

The youth was charged with three counts of home invasion and stealing a motor vehicle, theft, burglary, recklessly causing injury, attempting to steal a car, reckless conduct endangerin­g life and evading police.

Two 16-year-olds were also charged in relation to the crime spree incidents in Armstrong Creek and Lara.

One has been charged with four counts of stealing a motor vehicle, three counts of home invasion, theft, handling stolen goods, obtaining property by deception, burglary, recklessly causing injury, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, reckless conduct endangerin­g life, failing to stop a vehicle on police request, theft of registrati­on plates and evading police.

The other 16-year-old has been charged with two counts of stealing a motor vehicle, as well as home invasion, theft, burglary, three counts of committing an indictable offence while on bail, recklessly causing injury, unlawful assault, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, reckless conduct endangerin­g life and evading police.

They have all been remanded in custody to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
