CAR CHASE ACCUSED IN COURT

- RUSTY WOODGER

A TEENAGER has faced court after being arrested over a pursuit through Geelong on Sunday afternoon.

Zac Stewart appeared briefly in the Geelong Magistrates’ Court yesterday where he made no application for bail.

The 18-year-old was taken into custody about 1.30pm on Sunday after a police chase that involved a helicopter and involved officers pursuing a stolen car around Geelong, including the CBD area. TOPPED with a fluffy white marshmallow, Michael Wilson’s milkshake was like a vision from his dreams brought to life right before him.

Boasting chocolate, lollies and cream, the concoction was far from a traditional milkshake.

Moorabool St favourite Twisted Dessert Bar let children’s imaginations go wild at their Milkshake Chef’s for Kids session.

Children, including Michael, 4, pictured, took the time-honoured school holiday treat into their own hands this week as they tenderly crafted delicious creations with chocolate sauce and musk sticks.

And when the frothy milkshakes had been slurped, parents reminded themselves how grateful they were to be leaving the kitchen clean-up behind.

The grey Volkswagen Golf at the centre of the incident was allegedly stolen from South Geelong about 5.30am the same day.

It is alleged that Mr Stewart was spotted driving the vehicle erratically on Station St, Corio, before police initiated a pursuit and followed him through Geelong, the CBD and Whittington.

He was arrested after the car pulled over on Coxon Pde in North Geelong.

Mr Stewart has been charged with aggravated burglary, car theft, dangerous driving while being pursued by police and reckless conduct endangering life.

Defence lawyer Jonathan Barrera said his client had an intellectual disability and that it was Mr Stewart’s first time in custody.

The teenager had a number of supporters in court during the brief hearing, including a woman believed to be his mother, who burst into tears when Mr Stewart entered the dock.

Mr Stewart was remanded in custody until today.
