A TEENAGE boy nearly died after being struck in the head with a baseball bat during a terrifying attack in Corio.

Police say the offenders stormed a grand final party in Kosciusko Ave around 8pm on Saturday.

Geelong Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Guthrie said the 14-year-old boy sustained multiple skull fractures and was left fighting for his life.

“A number of adults have entered a Kosciusko Ave premises, where a 14-year-old was struck with a baseball bat,” Sen-Sgt Guthrie said.

He said the boy, who suffered bleeding to the brain, had lifesaving operations at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

“He is still in hospital at the moment,” Sen-Sgt Guthrie said.

“It was an extremely serious and scary incident, and due to the nature of the injuries, it could have been catastrophic.

“He could have died.”

Sen-Sgt Guthrie said the victim was celebrating in the driveway of the home with two friends, aged 14 and 16, and a group of adults when the armed offenders arrived.

The two other teenagers were also injured, with one treated at Geelong hospital, but they had no lasting injuries.

“It was extremely scary for everyone,” Sen-Sgt Guthrie said.

While police cannot confirm a motive for the attack, they believe it lasted “minutes” before the offenders fled. Anyone who witnessed the attack or has CCTV footage of it, is urged to come forward.

“This 14-year-old was almost killed. We are really appealing for anyone who saw it or who was involved and is feeling bad to contact police,” Sen-Sgt Guthrie said.

“This violence is just stupidity. “It’s a senseless, violent act.” Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Geelong police on 5225 3100 with information.
