Woman accused of dealing on bail

- REBEKAH CAVANAGH

A BIKIE moll linked to drug raids on the home of AFL legend Mark ‘Bomber’ Thompson has been sentenced to 472 days in jail for drug trafficking — time already served.

But Katia Drcec, 24, won’t walk free as it has emerged she remains on remand for allegedly dealing in a commercial quantity of drugs while on bail.

Drcec was arrested alongside her convicted drug trafficking boyfriend Karl ‘ Bang Bang’ Holt, a former tennis prodigy turned Bandidos associate, after police stopped them in his Mercedes in Corio on January 4 last year.

A search of the car found 82g of ice under the back seat.

Drcec’s handbag contained 18.7g of methylamphetamine, an ice pipe, orange straw, white spoon, and a Louis Vuitton purse that had $2349 cash.

A search on her mother’s Mill Park home where she was living with Holt uncovered 212.1g of ice and drug paraphernalia including scales and deal bags. A handgun was also found in the garage.

The pair had been dating five months and were engaged to be married.

Gripped by drug addiction, the County Court heard Drcec was drawn to the notorious drug dealer who was almost 10 years older than her because by helping him move drugs, she could easily feed her own 3.5g-a-day habit.

Drcec was initially denied bail on her arrest, but after 315 days behind bars, she was released to spend three months in a drug rehabilitation clinic in November.

The court heard soon after she completed the program and was back in the community awaiting her court case to return, the Year 10 school dropout was allegedly caught dealing a commercial quantity of drugs between February and April. She was charged and her bail revoked in May.

Police allege she also breached bail by calling Holt, 32, while he was in prison. The court heard she planned to contest the fresh charges.

County Court judge David Brookes said it was “very disappointing” Drcec was facing more charges, describing her prospects for rehabilitation as “guarded”.

“I must deter other people from behaving like you,” Judge Brookes said, adding how drugs were having “devastating results on the youth” across Victoria.

Drcec pleaded guilty to trafficking a drug of dependence from September 2017 to January 2018, and dealing with property suspected of being proceeds of crime.

Holt was sentenced to 2½ years’ jail in May for several charges including trafficking a commercial quantity of ice.

The pair’s associate Thomas Windsor was last year sentenced to 169 days of time already served before being freed on a community corrections order.

Windsor, 28, was staying at Thompson’s Port Melbourne home when it was raided a day after Drcec and Holt’s arrest.

Thompson, 55, was sentenced to a 12-month community corrections order and fined $3500 after being convicted of possessing almost 500 ecstasy pills, ice and LSD.

Drcec will return to court later this month.
