GEELONG’S TOP PET GROOMERS REVEALED

- JACOB GRAMS

EVERYONE deserves to be pampered once in a while and fur babies are no exception.

So when we begged you to nominate the best pet groomer in Geelong, you lapped up the op-paw-tunity and in a nice way, hounded us with entries.

We sniffed through the votes from the shortlist to dig up the top 10 from dozens of local businesses.

Here’s the top three who fetched the most interest, including the all-important title of top dog.

3. The Dog House Grooming Parlour, Clifton Springs

A reputation for showstopping grooming has b been the secret behind Amy Manser and the Dog House Grooming Parlour team’s rapid rise.

Ms Manser started grooming dogs 10 years ago at a vet clinic when she was just 17 and quickly realised it was the best job in the world, s starting the Dog House b business three years ago.

And it’s the efforts of their g groomers in the crazy strict world of competitions that has turned heads among local dog o owners.

The Dog House recently f finished second at the Royal Melbourne Show and earlier this year placed in three categories, including one win, a at the Sydney Grooming S Spectacular.

2. Stylin’ Dogs, Belmont

The reward of styling a scruffy dog into looking a million barks makes dog grooming the best job in the world, according to Stylin’ Dogs owner Candace Breach.

After opening the business in 2009, the Belmont studio has become one of the busiest and most popular in Geelong, with a team of nine groomers now fussing over pets of all shapes and sizes.

An owner of three fur children and confessed schnauzer fanatic, Ms Breach said she treated every client as she would her own in a venture driven by her passion developed from an early age.

1. Bec’s Grooming Room, Bannockburn

If people are making twohour, 160km round trips to get their dog groomed, you must be doing something right.

That’s exactly the case for Bec Fielden from Bec’s Grooming Room, who Addy readers have voted the No.1 pet groomer in the region.

The one-woman show has operated out of her Bannockburn home salon for three years and considers herself lucky to have fans as loyal as their precious pooches after 25 years in the pet care industry.

Ms Fielden has such an outstanding reputation, she has some clients making a two-hour round trip from Lorne to Bannockburn to get their dog groomed.

But it was the No.1 status among Addy readers that had her wondering if they were barking up wrong tree.

“I don’t even know how it all happened. I’ve ended up really lucky. Everyone has supported it and I’ve got heaps of awesome clients. It’s quite flattering,” she said.

After spending many years as a vet nurse and grooming on the side, Ms Fielden got stuck into the craft at home.

“I’ve got a couple of kids so I just thought I’d give it a go at home, see if we could get a couple of days a week and before I knew it I was working seven days a week, 10 hours a day. It was crazy.”

She said she simply had pride in her work and made sure to look after people’s fur babies as she would her own.
