TENSIONS SPILL OVER AT COURT

- OLIVIA SHYING

A CORIO mum with a history of violent outbursts threatened to bash an acquaintance and injure the woman’s baby during a vicious exchange in a court lobby.

Chloe King, 23, and victim Bianca Ierardo had been involved in a savage Corio Village affray a day earlier when they both showed up at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on August 28 last year to take out invention orders on each other.

King, who yesterday pleaded guilty to unlawful assault and making a threat in a public place, saw Ms Ierardo attempt to take a seat in a court waiting room and said “You’re not sitting here”.

Police prosecutor Leading Senior Constable David Vanderpol said when Ms Ierardo explained she had been told to wait there, King reacted angrily and threatened violence.

The court heard Ms Ierardo started filming the incident which further angered King who said: “Keep recording c--and I’ll throw your phone at your baby.”

King’s lawyer David Nelson said the outburst happened a day after Ms Ierardo’s mother Karen Fry called King’s baby cute in a supermarket aisle.

The court heard that during that fight King reacted with fury, pushing a trolley into Fry and kicking the 49-year-old once to the stomach. Ms Fry’s daughters — including Bianca Ierardo — then turned up and an all-in brawl eventuated.

The court was told King and Ms Ierardo both had children to the same man, which caused further tension.

Magistrate Leonard Brear placed King on a 12-month good behaviour bond without conviction and ordered her to pay $750 to the court fund.
