Two Roos apologise for rowdy home party

- JAY CLARK

TWO North Melbourne players have apologised for breaking strict social distancing guidelines when they hosted a noisy gathering for teammates on Sunday night.

Housemates Nick Larkey and Cameron Zurhaar, both 21, were confronted by a neighbour on Sunday night after inviting some teammates over to their Kensington home for drinks.

Nearby residents also complained that the pair were too noisy and created a disturbance on their outside balcony late at night.

While police were not called, the Roos players have since admitted they acted inappropriately and have apologised for breaching strict social distancing guidelines on the day they were announced to combat the coronavirus crisis.

North Melbourne officials followed-up with the two players early yesterday morning, and said Larkey and Zurhaar were out of line.

“The club has spoken to Nick Larkey and Cameron Zurhaar about a gathering at their home last night (Sunday), which caused a disturbance to neighbours,” the club said.

“Both players have apologised unreservedly for the noise created and have acknowledged their actions were inappropriate given the current climate and social distancing measures. The players have been encouraged to apologise to their neighbours in person.”

Earlier on Sunday, the Roos pulled off a stirring two-point come-from-behind win over St Kilda, only one hour before the AFL shut down the competition due to the global health crisis.
