EXPANDING OUR CHOICE OF HEALTHY OPTIONS

-

THE TH City of Greater Geelong has launched a new online toolkit for residents to find reliable advice on how to create and live a healthy lifestyle.

With so much content online, the council’s Healthy Communities team recognised the need to provide the Geelong community with fact-checked, authoritative information in one location.

The toolkit shares a range of ideas that can be adopted at home, including in times of isolation or in the cooler months when venturing outside is less appealing but staying physically and mentally healthy remains important.

The initiative focuses on four key priority areas:

MENTAL health and wellbeing; FOOD and nutrition; PHYSICAL activity; and, POSITIVE and respectful relationships.

The toolkit was inspired by the current coronavirus pandemic, but the resource hub will remain relevant to residents, with new updates and curated content to be added regularly.

Mayor Stephanie Asher said the health and wellbeing of the Greater Geelong community was a priority. “There’s a lot of information out there, so our Healthy Communities team is making it easier for us to find the good stuff,” Cr Asher said. “I encourage residents to take a look at the Healthy at Home toolkit and use it as a starting point to support their health and wellbeing.”

There are tips, graphics, recipes, lists, links and more providing a valuable resource for all age groups. To explore the toolkit, visit geelongaustralia.com.au/ healthyatho me. For residents without access to the internet, printed toolkits can be requested by phoning 5272 5272.
