Can’t wait for a workout? First you’ll need to book

-

THE City of Greater Geelong’s gyms may be re-opening to the public on Wednesday, but patrons will have to book a session at their preferred centre with gyms and group exercise only available with limited capacity.

Mayor Stephanie Asher said the re-opening of the city’s leisure centre network was great news for the health and wellbeing of the community, and followed the resumption of lap swimming at the centres’ indoor pools on June 5.

“Our leisure facilities provide valuable activities and programs for all ages and are also important social hubs,” Cr Asher said.

Leisurelink Aquatic & Recreation Centre, Bellarine Aquatic & Sports Centre, Waterworld Leisure Centre and Splashdown Leisure Centre will operate at their regular hours.

The indoor facilities are allowed to operate with limited numbers under the State Government’s gradual easing of coronavirus restrictions.

The gyms will resume under conditions that adhere to strict physical distancing requirements and the statewide directions.

These conditions include:

UP to 20 adults allowed at a time in a gym space;

UP to 10 adults allowed per group exercise class; and,

GYM sessions limited to 45 minutes.

Showers, changerooms and toilets will all be open from Wednesday. Bookings are essential and will be available via an online system at ssl.geelongaustralia.com.au or by calling your preferred centre.

Entry to the gyms will be provided through a temporary pay-as-you-go system, which is also in place for the pools. All suspended Swim, Sport & Leisure memberships, including Webstar’s Swim School membership, remain on hold.

Members will be provided advance notice of any resumption of debits.
