A TEENAGE boy accused of driving dangerously across Geelong has been denied bail.

The boy is charged with offences including theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop on police request, driving in a dangerous manner, unlicensed driving, theft and robbery.

Police claim a white Audi was stolen from Manifold

Heights on June 10 and hours later was seen travelling through Corio and Norlane.

A detective senior constable told a Children’s Court that officers tried to intercept the car but it evaded police at speed before running a red light.

The court was told the boy was detected on CCTV footage filling the car up with $45 of fuel in Lara before leaving without paying. He later allegedly attended a Bulleen service station, where he appeared drug-affected and was abusive to staff.

Police claim the same white Audi was at the scene of a Shannon Ave robbery. The senior-constable said one victim was assaulted and robbed of his vest, cap and satchel.

Police tracked the Audi to Queens Rd, Newtown, but the vehicle sped away and a police helicopter joined the hunt. Police later allegedly raided a property where they located the boy and a co-accused.

They allegedly found the keys to the Audi and seized two phones and a set of allegedly stolen Ford car keys. Officers also allegedly found clothing belonging to the robbery victim and a jumper allegedly worn by the boy at the Lara service station.

The court heard the boy had also been charged with aggravated theft and attempted burglary in connection to two other alleged incidents.

A police prosecutor strongly opposed bail. The boy’s defence lawyer argued her client should be bailed under strict conditions.

A magistrate refused bail and remanded him in custody until July 13.
