Council to vote on increases in final Budget

Parking fees will be increased across the city, with casual parking increasing from $3 to $3.10 an hour (3.3 per cent), all-day capped street parking jumping from $5.80 to $6.40 (10.3 per cent) and Haymarket day parking adding an extra 50c, moving to $13.50 (3.8 per cent).

Parking permits will also jump by hundreds of dollars across the city, with Western Beach permits jumping by $216 to $2378 (10 per cent).

Other city fees and charges increases include:

WASTE disposal at North Geelong and Drysdale transfer stations rising from $22.50 to $26 per car boot load, and up from $44.50 to $51.50 per single-axle trailer, as of January 1; NEW fees will be introduced for pool owners due to new regulation­s, with lodgement fees for compliant swimming pools at $20.44 and for noncomplia­nt swimming pools $385;

COMMUNITY rate for “seasonal hire summer oval 1” will jump from $2772 to $3751, and “seasonal hire for winter oval 1” will increase from $3788.40 to $4783;

OWNER builder permits for alteration­s and additions between $10,001 and $25,000 has increased by $240 to $2440, while a registered builder permit for alteration­s and additions for the same amount has increased by $32 to $1632.

The City of Greater Geelong’s’s Budget report noted that the council’s fees and charges were reviewed annually.
