Hunt for church cash box thief

POLICE are hunting a man who allegedly stole cash from a box at the Saint Mary of the Angels Basilica church in central Geelong.

Police said a man wearing a grey baseball cap, black sunglasses, black zip-up hoodie, blue jeans and a black backpack entered the Yarra St church on March 8.

A spokesman said the man was seen loitering near money boxes and later used an implement to remove cash from money boxes about 4.30pm.
