FRASER AGREES TO EXTEND HIS TIME WITH TIGERS

- GFL JOSH BARNES

GROVEDALE coach Daniel Fraser has committed to continue his work in building a new culture at Burdoo Reserve after agreeing to a contract extension that could tie him to the club until the end of 2023.

Fraser (pictured) took over the top job at the Tigers before the now cancelled 2020 season, after working as an assistant under Simon Riddoch a year earlier.

He initially agreed to coach Grovedale in 2020 with the option of continuing on in 2021, a deal which has been rolled over.

He will lead the Tigers in the next two years, with the option to continue for a fourth year.

“I think we all agree ‘Fraz’ has been terrific during a very difficult period and we are certain we have the right man in charge of our playing group,” the club said.

Fraser will have the assistance of former Geelong West coach Andrew Clark on his coaching panel next year, alongside Paul Waldron and Rick Munn.

Speaking during preseason, Fraser said he planned to set new standards at Grovedale and empower the playing group to get the best out of itself.

“It’s probably a two-tothree-year plan. We are aiming to be a lot more successful this year, but we understand those things that change aren’t shortterm changes,” Fraser said.

“They take a long time and I understand you have to be in for the long haul and I reckon I’ve got a core group of guys who are in for the long haul.

“We needed to lift our standards and we talked about a culture change and making sure the work is done and if the guys want to have a bit of success they have to put the work in.”
