GOVERNMENT FACING CORONAVIRUS ACID TEST
THis week is the test for our State Government — specifically in the Geelong region. The balance between economics versus our lives and death is now reliant on its choices.
We want to put politics to one side as we get through this unified, as this has been part of our success. Australians have risen to the challenge of complying with restrictions and fighting the virus “enemy”.
The management of COVID-19 in other states has been first class to date; this is not the case in Victoria. It is time we get told the truth, as what we have been led to believe is organised and in place is not. Daniel Andrews, Police Minister Lisa Neville, Health Minister Jenny Mikakos have by omission not faced up to their responsibility. The management of the coronavirus pandemic by the State Government is of increasing concern.
On many occasions, including the catastrophic hotel quarantine debacle, the Premier has passed the buck to the inquiry he has established. The result is a fundamental breakdown in the trust that Victorians have in the governance over our Geelong region and the state.
Reports are that contact tracing is up to a week behind. How can this be happening when all we have heard from the Andrews Government is how good they are? The rejection of army personnel at the behest of the unions has contributed to the failures and increase in cases that are now occurring. The poor message sent with the BLM protest undermined the public’s perceived need to isolate — “if they can, I can” attitude became the norm for some.
Terrible decision-making, along with a breakdown in transparency and trust, have left Victorians asking why and if this Labor government is in charge. Will more heads be resigning?
