Petrol pumping at new station
AMPOL has returned to Victoria with the opening of its Apollo Bay site after a $2.5m renovation.
A 12-week project saw the replacement of old fuel tanks and lines, installation of a new canopy and an upgrade of the shop to Ampol’s Foodary.
The opening also sees the iconic Australian fuel brand — Ampol — return to Victorian forecourts for the first time in 25 years.
Ampol’s executive general manager of retail, brand and culture, Joanne Taylor, said the renovation represented a significant investment in the site and the community.
“We are excited to complete this critical project and to re-open the doors at Apollo Bay as Ampol for the very first time,” she said.
“The investment will ensure we can meet the fuel and convenience needs of Apollo Bay residents and visitors well into the future, and in the short term we are pleased our new infrastructure will be available to support local tourism as we emerge from COVID-19 and head into the summer period.
“I would like to thank the people of Apollo Bay for their support and patience while we delivered these works and the local contractors that contributed to the successful delivery of the project.
“We look forward to continuing to support the local community as we move forward.”
The launch of Ampol in Apollo Bay — one of the first Ampol sites in the country — foreshadows a national rollout of the brand, which will see a further 1900 sites rebranded to Ampol over the next two years.
