HOMESTYLE AGED CARE

-

Homestyle Aged Care offers three aged-care homes in the Geelong region, all of which have a philosophy of promoting independence and fostering a caring environment. They answer the most frequently asked questions about fees.

How do I know what aged care fees to pay?

When you commence permanent residential care the Department of Human Services will allocate you to one of three categories depending on your income and assets. These categories will determine the fees you will pay for care. Our Homestyle fees and charges specialist Mark Saunderson and his team can assist you in understanding the terms that are used, the fees involved at Homestyle and the outcomes from choosing various pathways to fund residential aged care.

How do I find out what my fees will be?

There are multiple ways to estimate your fees or be advised of the exact fees.

Complete the Department of Human Services Income and Assets test for you (and your partner if relevant).

Complete an estimation of fees on the My Aged Care website.

Have a chat with one of our friendly admissions team members.

Seek guidance from a financial adviser.

Can I still access the care I need if I have minimal income and assets?

At Homestyle Aged Care we accept both government-supported residents and self-funded residents. Financial advice is available from Homestyle’s preferred partner, DMG Financial Planning, industry leaders in financial strategies for residents in aged care. DMG Financial principal Julie Irving’s services include financial advice on restructuring assets to pay for aged care fees, project management of all administration and Centrelink reporting following the move into aged care.

Do I need to sell my home to move into a facility?

You do not always need to sell your home, there are many ways to fund your accommodation. Speak with one of our friendly team members to discuss your situation.

Can my home be exempt from my assets?

Yes it can under these circumstances: If you have a spouse/partner remaining in the home and not entering care. Living with a dependent child who receives income support payments.

Living with a carer, eligible for income support payments who has resided there for more than two years. Living with a close relative, eligible for income support payments who has resided there for more than five years.

When I leave am I entitled to any lump sum I have paid on entry?

Yes, any lump sum you have paid towards your accommodation cost is fully refundable.
