Barbies OK if you follow the rules

REGIONAL Victorians planning to fire up the barbecue or get away this weekend will still need to adhere to the state government’s coronavirus restrictions.

Despite the government easing measures across Melbourne and country areas, limits on travel remain the same for AFL Grand Final weekend.

This means travelling through Melbourne is allowed, but those doing so must adhere to metropolitan rules.

It also rules out camping or a weekend away in metropolitan areas.

Parks Victoria’s website states outdoor kitchens, barbecues and similar facilities are open, but travellers are encouraged to bring their own soap and hand sanitiser.

Tourism providers risk fines if they do not refuse service to anyone who resides in metropolitan Melbourne.

Regional accommodation can be booked with people you live with, an intimate partner or up to two other people and their dependants.

Geelong residents eager to visit family members and friends in regional Victoria can also stay overnight, but cannot share a room unless it is with an intimate partner or a member of their own household.

Up to 10 people can gather outdoors at one time, as long as masks are worn.

Pubs will be able to have more patrons, with venues allowed 70 people outside and 40 inside.

You can have up to two people visit you at home each day.

The measure does not include infants under 12 months or dependants if they cannot be left at home or cared for in another setting.

The two adult visitors do not have to be from the same household.

Premier Daniel Andrews has indicated he will reveal more about travel between metropolitan areas and regional Victoria on Sunday.

“I will have more to say about all those arrangements, 25km, the regional-metro border,” Mr Andrews said.
