SUMMER BROMANCE

- JOSH BARNES

GEELONG’S boom recruits will spend the summer building a harmony with their new teammates as the coaches experiment how best to fit them all in.

All eyes will be on how the star pairing of Jeremy Cameron and Tom Hawkins mesh together in the forward half but the Cats will also have to create roles for Isaac Smith and Shaun Higgins.

The trio joins the club with a combined experience of 618 games across 34 seasons and four clubs.

While all three have shown the ability to play different roles for their previous sides, Cameron (pictured) said it would take time over summer to work out the best fits.

“It’s a little bit of the unknown, as it is with any club when they get new players, you aren’t sure how they will gel together,” he said on the Keeping It Real podcast.

“I think we can bring a bit of the footy clubs we were at to Geelong and we are all different players but we are all sort of the running types. I would think it is going to work really well.

“One of the best things as well, just talking to the coaches the other day, is that they are really open to experimenting throughout the pre-season and looking into how we can make the club better and that is something I am looking forward to.”

Cameron said he

anticipated playing higher up the field than in his later years at Greater Western Sydney, in a bid to play as a facilitator for Hawkins.

The 2019 Coleman medallist made his first visit as a Cat to GMHBA Stadium on Friday and said he had been warmly welcomed by the playing group, including getting an invitation from his new running mate to a farm visit.
