Moving out a family affair for Don’s offspring

- GEORGIA CLARK

DONALD Trump’s five children had counted on his re-election to the White House, so where to now for the five of them, many asked yesterday.

Donald Jr could well keep climbing up the ladder of the Trump Organisation, alongside his younger brother Eric.

But his active involvement in the Trump re-election bid saw rumours swirl about his political ambitions, with some saying he had even hinted at a 2024 presidential election run if the upcoming Senate impeachment trial put an end any future bid by his father to return to the White House.

But that goal could very well hang in the balance after the riots on Capitol Hill on January 6, which cast a shadow not only on Trump’s legacy, but so too, on his children.

Donald Jr, already overshadowed by a fraud probe, had been criticised as being complicit in the storming of the Capitol after threatening his father’s opponents “we’re coming for you” — which Democrats seized on as an incitement of violence.

Number one daughter Ivanka had also raised the ire of some after labelling the protesters “American patriots” in a controversial Tweet she later deleted.

And without her prized role as her father’s adviser, her future remains unclear, aside from speculation she could launch her own political career as governor of Florida after buying a $40m bunker in Miami.

As for youngest son Barron, at age 14 his focus will be on achieving high grades at school while his older sister, Tiffany, is set to keep her eyes firmly on her future as a singer.

But with his mother Melania reportedly househunting in Florida since the start of the year, who is to say the Trumps won’t kick their feet up for a while and settle down at Palm Beach.
