Magpies share role of coach

- JOSH BARNES

NORTH Geelong’s ascension is set to continue next summer, with respected figure Craig Biddiscombe to share the coaching reins with Jack Hall.

After winning the GCA1 First XI flag last season, the Magpies are now top of the firsts and club championship.

Success has not just been limited to the on-field side of the club, with North Geelong’s brand new scoreboard in line to be switched on at Osborne Park on Saturday. New decking at the revamped club rooms is also set to be unveiled, likely next weekend.

Biddiscombe has been a Magpie for the last two seasons after a long career with Barwon Heads that included the role of director of coaching, and a stint with St Joseph’s.

He also played 78 AFL games with Geelong and Richmond before a decorated local career that included flag success in the GFL with South Barwon.

Given Hall’s work in guiding the Magpies to the top of the tree in his three seasons in charge, Biddiscombe said he would be happy to support his co-coach as the club continues to spread the load.

“I see my main role as helping Jack. He has done such a good job in the time he has been coach, I didn’t want him to walk away from the job burnt out or anything like that,” Biddiscombe said.

“It might be good to bring a slightly fresh voice to the team but at the same time I just want to make sure Jack continues to build this legacy and build on what he has done.

“One of the key indicators of good culture is you have multiple leaders around the place.”
