DEAKIN University has impressed in two recent worldwide university rankings, landing top places for its online business programs and work in sustainability.

The Quacquarelli Symonds released its “largest-ever” list of the world’s best online master of business administration (MBA) programs, which has seen Deakin Business School take out third place in Australia and 29th in the world.

It is one of five Australian online MBA programs alongside the likes of Macquarie Business School and La Trobe University to be named among the 57 ranked offerings in the world.

The results also show Deakin’s MBA is top three in the world for classroom experience.

Deakin MBA director Dr Andrea North-Samardzic said the ranking reflected its effort to develop and deliver a program that provides “the best possible learning experience”.

“That investment has meant that we were well prepared to meet the learning challenges posed by COVID in 2020 which is reflected in our MBA’s market-leading online learning position,” she said.

Deakin’s reputation as a leader in sustainability has also been given another boost, ranking 79th in the world for sustainability from 1115 universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) impact rankings for 2021.

It comes after Deakin opened its $23m renewable energy microgrid at its Waurn Ponds campus on Tuesday.

Deakin’s position includes top rankings in the areas of affordable and clean energy, good health and wellbeing and gender equality.

Deakin’s ambitious targets include being carbon neutral by 2025, zero waste to landfill by 2030 and adapting campuses and operations to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
