GAZZA SAYS LEVI A REAL BLESSING

- JACKIE EPSTEIN

SUPERSTAR Gary Ablett has opened up about the health of son Levi, saying the youngster is showing “some improvement”.

Ablett said two-year-old Levi, who suffers from a rare degenerative illness, was a constant blessing to him and wife Jordan.

Speaking to host Eddie McGuire as a guest on Who

Wants to Be A Millionaire, he said: “He’s a beautiful boy, Ed, he really is. He’s been a real blessing to both Jordan and I.

“He’s going OK, he’s got a pretty serious condition but we are seeing some improvement.

“The great thing about Levi is he’s a very determined boy, he’s always happy, he gets physio every day and . . . he brings so much joy to our lives.”

Ablett spoke as footage was shown of a smiling and laughing Levi in his time in the Queensland AFL hub last year.

The two-time Geelong premiership player appeared on the game show as part of a

Sports Stars episode, alongside AFLW star Tayla Harris.

The Cats superstar retired after the AFL Grand Final last year and has been focusing on spending to time with family.

On the weekend they took Levi to meet the Wiggles in person, with Jordan sharing a sweet video of Levi in Gary’s arms as he met the popular children’s group.

“How special spending yesterday morning with @thewiggles. I think if we were to be honest with ourselves we were all a little starstruck, not just the kids,” Jordan wrote.

“I know Levi’s not smiling here but I know his heart would have been absolutely beaming!

“Thank you @thewiggles for creating such a memorable experience for the kids

(and us!).”

In March, she spoke of Levi’s condition, revealing in an emotional interview with The Significant Others podcast that the illness comes with a short life expectancy.

“I just remember sitting with Gaz in that meeting and when they said it I just remember absolutely breaking down,’’ Jordan said.

“There is a very short life expectancy, which is why I constantly say to people . . . we are literally just taking it day by day because we have no idea what the future holds.”
