Woman hit in head 10 times

A GEELONG dad is facing the prospect of a lengthy jail term after admitting to crimes including a series of disgraceful attacks on a woman.

Alan Jones, 23, (right) also known as Alan Kondschak, appeared at Geelong Magistrates Court on Friday over a spate of offending between February and September this year.

The court was told the former Cotton On factory worker was responsible for multiple assaults on his on-and-off partner that included repeatedly punching her to the head.

Jones, of Corio, has pleaded guilty to charges including assault, car theft and drug offences.

The father of two has been on remand for more than two months after being arrested with drugs, cash and deal bags on a Corio street.

The bust came weeks after Jones targeted his partner in three separate incidents within a six-day period. In one case, Jones punched the woman about 10 times to the head after demanding to know where she had been.

In another incident, he chased the victim down and tried dragging her back inside his home, prompting the woman to scream for help.

The court heard the victim was left with bruising after some of the attacks.

Prosecutor Craig Williams told the court Jones was also involved in stealing a station wagon from a beach carpark in Jan Juc on July 27.

Hours later, Jones and an unknown accomplice were driving the vehicle in Lovely Banks when they became bogged near train lines on Evans Rd.

The pair spent several hours unsuccessfully trying to move the vehicle and police were eventually called by a member of the public.

The officers’ arrival spooked the two thieves, who fled on foot, with Jones leaving behind a bag in the stolen car containing an identity card in his name.

Jones could be forced to repay $15,000 to the owner of the stolen vehicle after the prosecution applied for a restitution order.

Defence lawyer Caetlyn WellsSimon said her client’s life had derailed this year after he started using ice.

“He instructs that this is his rock bottom,” she said.

Jones was remanded in custody for sentencing on February 21 next year.
