Starting to feel a lot like last year

-

DAN Christian is a winning machine when it comes to T20 tournaments and is adamant the Sydney Sixers’ BBL campaign has “got that feeling about it” as they look to a historic three-peat of titles.

Allrounder Christian, 38, showed age would not weary him, taking 3-8 in the Sixers’ victory over the Adelaide Strikers on Tuesday as his team moved to 4-1.

The winner of nine T20 tournaments around the world, including Big Bash titles with the Brisbane Heat, Melbourne Renegades and Sixers, is adamant the men in magenta have not hit their best.

“It probably isn’t too far off the way we played last year as well,” Christian (pictured) said. “We haven’t played anywhere near our best cricket for these first four or five games, but we’re getting over the line. And it’s someone different every game who is doing something to get us over the line.

“It’s got that feeling about it, similar to last year, where we’re not playing our best but we’re still winning.”

The Sixers will front up next on Boxing Day in a Sydney showdown with the Thunder but without star English fast bowler Chris Jordan, who has finished his time at the Sixers.

Fellow English paceman Tom Curran has already returned home because of a back injury and the Sixers are down two spinners, with Steve O’Keefe and Ben Manenti injured.

But Christian said the Sixers had “great depth” as they pushed into to the second half of the season.

“There’s just a real confidence among the group and a confidence in the guy we’re standing next to out on the field,” he said.
