ROBBING THE DISABLED AND THEIR CARERS

-

A BIG heads up to the Gillard government. Good work Julia on introducing the NDIS to the people, even though on its introduction it was not funded properly by your government and left up to others to sort the mess out. In saying that, it was a great initiative and a great idea that was meant to help the families in allowing the disabled to stay at home.

Respite was another thing that was supported. It allowed the caring parent to have time away from the ever-demanding attendance of their loved one that is required.

Now we have organisations on every corner offering help and care with their CEOs reaping millions from the government and gouging valuable dollars at a time when it is needed by the disabled and respite for their carers.

Last week we found out our respite has been cut by two-thirds or more. A quiet weekend alone is now a thing of the past unless we want it to cut into our allotted three weeks break a year.

A carer’s allowance of $132.89 doesn’t go far enough when you have a 24/7 disabled son at 44 years of age at home toileting, bathing, controlling eating at meal time and moving him from room to room.

This is not a whine as we are accustomed to it and accept it as part of our lives. It’s to point out the gouging of funds that these parasites in such an organisation

reap from the system.

It’s time that these organisations were not privately owned but controlled by a governing body. It’s very easy to start up such an organisation and pay carers $26 an hour.

The carers and parents save this government millions in keeping the disabled at home only for these organisations to gouge it right back out of their hands through the NDIS.
