Randall comeback tip after trip-up

- SIMEON THOMAS-WILSON

ADELAIDE is confident captain Chelsea Randall will be fit for the Crows’ do-or-die AFLW semi-final against Collingwood on Saturday.

Randall sent a big scare through the Crows camp in their qualifying final loss to Melbourne on Friday night when she was on the end of a heavy knock in the fourth quarter. As the three-time Adelaide premiership skipper walked back to take the ensuing free kick, she fell over, raising fears that she might have suffered a concussion.

But Randall, who ruled herself out of the Crows’ 2021 grand final loss to Brisbane after suffering a concussion in the preliminary final, said she actually tripped over her laces and had passed the concussion tests so far.

“I think I got a knee to the nose and I got back up and, unfortunately, I got caught in my shoelaces when I was walking back for my free kick and I stumbled,” she told SEN SA on Sunday.

“Which maybe looked a bit dramatic on the TV but I’ve passed all the concussion tests with flying colours so we are all good on this end.”

The match against the Demons was Randall’s first game back after she suffered an ankle sprain, which did risk ending her season prematurely.

The skipper will still be monitored by the Adelaide doctors in the lead-up to the Magpies game, but there is confidence that she plays in the semi-final at Unley Oval.

Gun midfielder Ebony Marinoff suffered a rolled ankle against Melbourne but she is also expected to face the Pies. Midfielder Ailish Considine is pushing to return from a hamstring injury.
