GETAWAYS: GOLF TRAVEL
The Port Fairy and Warrnambool Golf Clubs are giving you another wonderful opportunity to play two of Australia’s Top-100 Courses during the 17th Shipwreck Coast Golf Classic.
The annual tournament – taking place over 36 holes on November 10 and 11 – has grown to become one of Victoria’s must-play events for amateurs around Australia and showcases some of the region’s best natural attractions.
The $100 entry fee provides players with rounds at Warrnambool (ranked No.84 in Australia) and Port Fairy (No.43) with daily BBQs included between 11am and 1pm. Daily 18-hole and overall trophies are also up for grabs.
Those who play to a GA handicap below six will compete in stroke play, while everyone else will be graded into B, C and D grades for stableford. The opening round will take place at Port Fairy before moving to Warrnambool on the Sunday.
Registered players will be able to discover the beautiful (but wild) 130-kilometre stretch of coastline that has wrecked at least 700 ships over time and witness the grandeur of The Twelve Apostles along the way.
The Shipwreck Coast forms part of the Great Ocean Road and spans between Moonlight Head and Port Fairy.
Needless to say, there is plenty to keep everyone entertained before and after the tournament. From Tours of the region and organic foods to the state wildlife reserve at Tower Hill and the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum in Warrnambool, the Shipwreck Coast is well worth an extended stay.
Entries to the Shipwreck Coast Golf Classic close on October 31, 2018 or when the field is full.
