CYPRESS LAKES WINS MAJOR AWARD
NSW’S Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort has been named Australia’s Best Golf Hotel for 2018 at the fifth Annual World Golf Awards for the second consecutive year.
Announced at a gala ceremony in Spain recently, the international awards program serves to acknowledge and celebrate excellence in golf across a range of categories on a global scale.
Voted on by respected golf industry experts and tourism authorities, the popular Hunter Valley property claimed the win after competing against an impressive line-up of world-class golfing destinations from across the country.
“On behalf of the team at Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort, I’m exceptionally proud of this achievement and the hard work that has gone into securing this award for a second year running,” Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels – Australia and New Zealand, Craig Hooley, said.
“The resort’s strong golf offering continues to appeal to a broad range of domestic and international markets; not only is the course itself award-winning, but it also presents as an iconic Australian golfing destination that offers visitors the opportunity to play against a stunning backdrop of undulating vineyards and native hinterland.”
While the course has enjoyed a rich 25-year history as a Hunter Valley icon, it’s also experienced substantial upgrades and improvements during the past five years since being acquired by Minor Hotels.
Located just two hours’ drive north of Sydney, Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort boasts 136 villas in a range of one-, two- and threebedroom configurations, many of which have undergone a rejuvenation. It features three swimming pools, tennis courts, two restaurants and bars, a well-equipped gymnasium, and seven versatile function venues.
